Have you ever done an overhaul of your kitchen cupboards?
You know, when you go through and throw out the old stuff that’s past date and find all sorts of things in there?
Well maybe it’s time again.
But this time, you throw or give away any food that isn’t healthy and supportive of your goals.
Over the last year, my cupboards and fridge have done a complete 180.
I got rid of a bunch of spice packets and sauces that had numbers in them. I replaced them with organic spices that I found at a local health food shop.
I got rid of curry pastes that had ingredients that aggravated my digestive system.
I learned how to make a curry from scratch
using herbs and spices and all natural ingredients.
I started buying more fresh fruits and vegetables and made sure I was shopping at least twice a week.
I started soaking nuts and seeds and then drying them out in a food dryer, and am now hooked on it. It helps to release the nutrition inside the food and it makes them taste so much better!
Most of my plastic storage containers have been replaced with glass stuff, as the plastic can leech into your food as it deteriorates and is known to increase estrogen levels.
The majority of my food is now organic thanks to looking for it and visiting a select few shops that sell the majority of what I want.
All of the grains I buy are organic too, as my research has shown that much of what is mainstream has been stored for way too long using preservatives that aren’t great for our bodies. Plus we don’t really know what is GMO and what is good quality.
I also make sure to use stainless steel cookware while avoiding the non-stick stuff that can come off into your food and is no good for you.
I’m using a natural dish washing liquid which is better for me and the environment.
I bought a slow cooker which has been great for roasting chickens, preparing broths and stews and making my life easier through lazy cooking techniques.
I’ve been buying fermented foods on a regular basis such as sauerkraut, pickles and capsicums and found quality ones without nasty additives.
These fermented foods are great for looking after your digestive health.
I’ve been buying a biodynamic yogurt which mixed with frozen berries is my favourite cheat food now.
I found a whole lot of coconut based ingredients which can be used to make certain meals taste so much better.
I bought recipes books which were supportive of my goals and helped me become a better cook.
I made apple cider vinegar, garlic, lemon and ginger a regular part of my diet and swear by the health support they give.
I replaced black and green tea with herbal tea and actually like them.
I cut down my use of sugar dramatically and now use stevia, cacao powder, real vanilla powder and rice malt syrup to sweeten or flavour foods.
I make juices very often and swear by their detoxification properties. And I got my juicer from Gumtree for $50 after I broke the last one from juicing it to death.
I’m buying more avocado more regularly and I leave them out so I can make sure they’re ready to eat.
I’ve been using Celtic and Himalayan salt much more to flavour my meals and add to my water so the body absorbs it better.
All of my water is either bottled or filtered too, as our bodies are mostly water so may as well give it the quality H2O.
It’s not hard for you to make these changes too, and I can testify that it will improve your health and help change your physique as my turnaround has been dramatic in the last 12 months.
So start by having a look at what you have in your fridge and cupboards, and what you think you should replace.
Then just start making changes one at a time so you don’t end up overwhelmed.
Here’s another article which may help. It more addresses changing one meal a month, but still a great option. http://
If you can do a total overhaul in a weekend, good for you, but the slow and steady approach still gets to the end destination.
All of these changes will cause the body to detoxify, repair itself and in doing so helps the body release its fat stores, so you get more sexy. Pretty good result really.
So get to it.
And get out in the sunshine. That amazing vitamin D works magic on health and paired up with some fresh air from big trees and your body will be very happy.
I almost fell asleep on the grass at the beach Monday night it was so good.
